Taco Bell changed its menu on Thursday, September 12th. They got rid of nine menu items, and most of them have been on the menu for years. Taco Bell said that this made picking food off the menu easier and they got rid of some of their best sellers to get people out of their comfort zone.  While they think that their late spring cleaning was a genius idea, I don’t think it was such a bright idea.

 Good ole menu

I am sure that most, if not all, people, reading this article have been to Taco Bell and every time we go we have a few items in mind. Let’s say you walk up to the register and order, but they say< “Sorry, we don’t have that anymore,” You bounce back at that and ask if they have any of your other favorites but those CEOs and big dogs up at corporate just want to ruin your day. Taco Bell is not for the adventurous palate, it is for the people who want one thing in life, a cheap burrito. We as customers had no say in this outrage in who got to stay and who got to go, and we lost some good ones in this battle such as XXL Grilled Stuffed Burrito, Double Tostada, Cool Ranch, and Fiery Doritos Locos tacos. These items had been going strong for a long time so we must gather our senses in this horrible time and ask why?

An answer

When the customers got angry they went to Big Boy Bell for answers, this is what they got. The head honchos said that cutting the menu would decrease the time for choosing your meal and therefore getting them more customers faster. It was somewhere between 3-7 seconds that they saved in all which doesn’t sound like a lot but when you have that many customers it pays enough to overlook betrayal. These cuts brought them 6 million more drive-through customers than their 2018 season, They also received 4 million more in-store purchases.

Was this justified

This might or might not be able to be justified by the people who made the decision. The reason that they also gave for the new menu was to have more combos to counteract McDonalds $1,$2, &$3 dollar menu. In other words there is no more good food, only cheaper-than-normal tacos, chalupas, and other irrelevant foods. They cannot come back after this mistake, they have cut off a piece of my life and there is no getting it back.
