Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. White

Mrs. White is a high school teacher here at Southwestern. She teaches Exploring College and Careers (7th & 8th Grade), Preparing for College and Careers, Middle School Business (7th Grade), Digital Citizenship (6th Grade). She has been teaching for six years she has worked at Terre Haute North Vigo HS for one year and at Northview HS for four years. This is her first year at Southwestern. I asked her why she came to Southwestern she said, “My husband accepted a job in Madison, so I was looking for a place to teach close by. I had heard many great things about Southwestern, so I sent in my resume. I was blessed that Southwestern was able to offer more business electives, therefore creating a spot for me.”

What made you become a teacher?

 I have always wanted to be a teacher. When I graduated high school I got a paper that I had done in Kindergarten that said: “When I grow up I want to be a __________ and I had filled in teacher.”

 

What do you like about teaching?

Interacting with students, and seeing the “light bulb moments” when a student truly understand something for the first time!
