Avengers: Infinity War Review

Over the last ten years, Marvel Studios has released eighteen films in their expansive cinematic universe. All of this time and hard work came together to set up Avengers: Infinity War. This movie is unlike anything audiences have seen before. With a great story, an amazing build up, and a great villain, this superhero film is truly one of the best of its kind.

The plot of Avengers: Infinity War is incredibly detailed and grand. It all started when the universe was created, 6 infinity stones were scattered across the cosmos. These stones are mystical space rocks that control different parts of the universe. Thanos, our main villain of the film, wants to harness the power of all 6 infinity stones to kill half of the universe’s population. The movie follows Thanos’s journey to obtain the 6 stones and The Avengers attempts to stop him. Along the way, we see people from different galaxies, worlds, and tribes join forces with “earth’s mightiest heroes” to bring an end to Thanos devastating destruction.

Thanos is one of the most powerful villains that the Avengers have had to go up against. Thanos’s goal in the film is to retrieve all of the infinity stones. Once he does this he’ll finally be able to bring balance to the universe and kill half of all living things. He believes that there are too many people and not nearly enough resources to support them. He wants to save these people by “bringing balance” to the universe. The powers he possesses are unrivaled by The Avengers. He can smash moons into planets, change reality, and withstand getting hit in the face with planes. It takes six of our heroes to even have a chance of stopping him. His sheer strength and power give us some actual tension. Seeing this movie for the first time, you don’t know what’ll happen to our heroes. He really is The Avengers biggest threat yet.

This movie was one of the most anticipated movies of 2018. It’s been teased since the first Avengers movie, released back in 2012, with a post credit scene. Since then, we have gotten to know every character in this universe. We’ve seen them deal with their own conflicts big and small. From literal worlds being destroyed to something as little as common bank robberies. During all of this, we’ve seen slight glimpses of Thanos getting closer to starting his mission. After a decade of seeing these superheroes. We finally get to see them come together and give us an action-packed film, full of talented people.

Avengers: Infinity War is one of the best superhero movies in recent memory. The scale of this story is something we as an audience haven’t really seen before. If you haven’t already seen this movie, I highly recommend it for its expansive story, its long build-up, and its powerful villain. After long consideration, I give it an A, and don’t miss the sequel to Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, being released April 26th, 2018
